Michelle Terry’s plan for Shakespeare’s Globe is democratic – but is it doable?
Terry’s first season at the theatre promises to dismantle hierarchies but how easy is it to stage Hamlet without one director in charge?

It truly makes little sense to me.

It sounds like hopeful hippie visions from the 1970s.

People are afraid of criticizing anything with the word “democratic” tacked on,” but democracy often does not work even where it supposed to work.

In general, the creative arts are simply not democratic by their very nature.

A single author, a single director, a single star or several single stars, etc.
