There can be no doubt that Mr. Zuesse is correct about Ukraine having destroyed MH-17, however I cannot agree, without further evidence, that the act was a “black flag” operation.

It may have been, of course, but we have no solid evidence for that as we very much do for Ukraine’s actually downing the airliner.

Sheer incompetence alone, demonstrated over and over, by Ukraine’s military provides a pretty compelling explanation with no further motives required.

I think the greatest lesson we can all learn from these events concerns America’s approach to world affairs today.

The United States unquestionably has spy satellite data of this event – its fleet of “Keyhole” satellites with capabilities resembling those of NASA’s space telescope cover the earth – yet it has never offered any of it to the international community.

It also unquestionably has radar data of the event, this being a region of constant interest to America’s military, and America has some of the world’s best radars yet, again, it has offered absolutely nothing to the international community.

Last, the extraordinary – virtually criminal – dilatory proceedings of the Dutch investigators can only reasonably be interpreted as suppression of evidence in response to American pressure, America having been deeply concerned that its fledgling coup-created government in Kiev would be discredited so early in its life by a destructive blunder.

We have seen many times a fairly straightforward crash like this explained by authorities within weeks or less, as was the recent case with the German plane widely scattered over difficult terrain in the Alps. The delay over MH-17 surely can only be deliberate.

Whatever the final resolution, the entire matter remains one big tissue of lies, and it is profoundly disturbing that European leaders remain so under the malign influence of the United States here and in other matters, allowing themselves to hurt their economies through America’s insistence on penalties and needlessly to threaten a new cold war over an ugly set of lies.

Indeed, today the UN behaves as corruptly as the Dutch crash investigators and the seeming victory of Malaysia in bringing the investigation to the UN’s scrutiny likely amounts to nothing. Ban Ki-Moon is Washington’s man in every last matter, often displaying the most obsequious and embarrassing public behavior.

“WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE?”: MALAYSIAN PM SLAMS MH17 INVESTIGATION AS NOT IMPARTIAL AND POLITICALLY MOTIVATED

 

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said that the investigation into the 2014 crash of the Malaysia Airlines-operated Boeing in Ukraine was not conducted in an impartial manner, but was rather focused on simply pinning the blame on Russia for political reasons.

“For some reasons, Malaysia was not allowed to check the black box to see what happened. We don’t know why we are excluded from the examination but from the very beginning, we see too much politics in it and the idea was not to find out how this happened but seems to be concentrated on trying to pin it to the Russians. This is not a neutral kind of examination,“ the prime minister said, as quoted by the Malaysian National News Agency.

“They are accusing Russia but where is the evidence? We know the missile that brought down the plane is a Russian type missile, but it could also be made in Ukraine. You need strong evidence to show it was fired by the Russians, it could be by the rebels in Ukraine, it could be Ukrainian government because they too have the same missile”.

Both Malaysia and Russia were excluded from partaking in the investigation.

If one translates the recent remarks by the Malaysian prime minister from diplomatic language to direct speech, we see that he stated that Malaysia has little doubts that the MH17 was intentionally shot down by the Ukrainian government. He also points out that the side controlling the JIT and thus the investigation is concealing the criminals, hiding data, and limiting the participation of third parties in the ‘international’ investigation.

COMMENT TO MICHAEL ENRIGHT ABOUT AN EPISODE OF CBC RADIO’S SUNDAY EDITION

What a shame you had a long segment about a very important and fascinating topic, the Armenian Genocide, and your effort was just plain dreary and uninteresting, all of it the personal reflections of three not-particularly-interesting people, like an hour’s worth of low-key chatter at a cocktail party.

You missed a great opportunity to do something worthwhile.

Why has this subject been so repressed, not just in Turkey but in many countries? What were Turkey’s motives? Why have the United States and others deliberately avoided offending Turkey for decades over this subject?

Perhaps most interesting, why has the Vatican at this time made this statement? Nothing the Vatican does is without politics, and there is, to a certainty, something which has occurred behind the scenes causing this statement. Concern over Turkey’s dealings with Russia?

Last, I have in the past heard spokespeople for Israel, one being Elie Wiesel, expressing sputtering fury over the very mention of an “Armenian Genocide.” According to these folks, there can be only one event in history worthy of the term genocide. Why? There’s an interesting sidelight on the subject.

You didn’t enlighten, Michael Enright, you only schmoozed with some folks who had little to say.

FOOTNOTE: Only shortly after this event, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon made a stunning public statement that it would be incorrect to call the mass killing of 1.5 million Armenians a genocide! He said it was an “atrocity crime,” a silly minted-to-the purpose term which reminds me a bit of the time when Israel pressured everyone to stop saying “suicide-bombers” and use the silly expression “homicide bombers,” something the insipid George Bush quickly did in a speech, making himself sound more tongue-twisted than ever.  Clearly, new back-scene political pressure is being applied by someone.
