There is no defense for this woman who abused her responsibilities.

You cannot call yourself a manager if you don’t question some of the ridiculous expenses she did not question.

Also, her excuse for the exorbitantly-paid consultants ($3000/day in a number of cases) was the idea of getting up to speed rapidly.

But that approach – throwing money at something – is the McGuinty approach to education, a guaranteed failure.

We have the testimony of one honest consultant who told us it was all so badly organized, he was sitting on his hands while being paid. He quit, but clearly most did not.

Of course, she was not alone.

McGuinty’s Minister in this portfolio is a pathetic man. When he opens his mouth, you understand why things went so badly wrong.

He should be dismissed too.

In general, there are open applications on the Internet for this purpose which may be used free.

There are also other provinces already with systems. We could easily borrow or adapt.

The whole enterprise is a scandal, much like our public education system’s failure to get the basics done.

JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: THE TWISTED USE OF AHMADINEJAD AS PREPARATION FOR ISRAEL’S ATTACKING IRAN AND THROWING THE WORLD INTO CHAOS   Leave a comment

Marcus Gee asserts in this column what is not proven and likely cannot be proven. This is irresponsible for someone in his position.

I am no admirer of Ahmadinejad, but I have yet to read a statement that he has made – fairly considered in context and not distorted by those who hate him – that could be called anti-Semitism.

Apologists for Israel’s bloody excesses – and Marcus Gee is a prompt and regular contributor to that cause – love to pull Ahmadinejad’s statements out of context and even distort them because Israel’s leaders have built a huge head of steam and want to attack Iran, pitching the world into a serious crisis. They are looking for every excuse to build a case for doing so.

Ahmadinejad does not like Israel: that does not make him a demon or a Nazi. He has never said he would attack Israel. He has never advocated terror against Israel.

He has said Israel will come to an end by the very nature of its circumstances. In fact the CIA in a secret report has said exactly the same thing: Israel, as it is, will dissolve away within 20 years. That may be unpleasant for some, but it is not a crime and it is not even a threat.

It is important to understand, too, that Ahmadinejad does not have serious power in Iran anyway. His is a weak office. Power in Iran is distributed over several entities, as it is in the United States. Ahmadinejad can not order war.

Yet Israel threatens to attack Iran daily, and the threats have only become more vicious lately. This would be an event to pitch the entire world into a crisis, and Marcus Gee is effectively supporting it.

Israel has done many nasty things in its short life. It holds ten thousand in its jails. It abuses an entire population of millions daily, holding them in virtual bondage.

It viciously killed 430 children in Gaza plus a thousand others for no good reason. Not long before it killed 1,400 in Lebanon for no good reason, leaving behind, for good measure, tens of thousands of cluster bombs to maim and kill for years.

To this day Israel refuses to tell the UN where it dropped these ghastly things which almost make landmines look humane. And to this day, after its savage and cowardly attack on Gaza, it will not allow proper assistance to get into the stricken people.

Israel blubbers about democracy but will not talk to a democratically elected government, treating them as demons or witches which they are not.

Iran has attacked no one in its entire modern history.

JOHN CHUCKMAN COMMENT: MARCUS GEE TELLS US WHAT AMERICANS – ALL THREE HUNDRED MILLION – ARE FIXATED BY: NOT THE FINANCIAL MESS – NOT AMERICAN TROOPS ABROAD – BUT TERROR   Leave a comment

Here is another mighty labor by Marcus Gee for the birth of a mouse.

Considering there are 300,000,000 people, and counting, in the United States, how can anyone make such a flat generalization?

He cannot, of course. It’s absurd.

I have friends and relatives in the United States, and none of them is worried about terror. They are worried about the economic mess. They are concerned to have American troops come home. And they are horrified at Israel’s slaughter in Gaza.

“This is not some paranoid obsession. The events of 9/11 made it clear to everyone that America faced a new enemy that had no compunction about massacring thousands of civilians.”

Oh please, the United States armed forces have murdered something on the order of a million people since that one criminal event, all of whose perpetrators died in the act, and virtually none – none – of that million had anything to do with 9/11.

Not only that, but more than 10,000,000 Americans have died since 9/11. Americans murdering other Americans have killed roughly 140,000 in that period. Death on the highways has taken another 280,000 or so. Medical malpractice has killed the best part of a million.

The degree to which a minority of Americans are concerned about terror is the degree to which people like Mr. Gee work regularly to instill fear.

Those defending Israel’s brutal slaughter are happy to associate with the word “terrorist” the perpetrators of 9/11 and the victims of Israel’s heartless killing.

Of course, our voice on China does matter, Marcus Gee.

But you do have to be IN China to have your voice heard, much less paid any attention to. It is foolish to say otherwise, but then this article is nothing except foolishness. Just listen to yourself.

“Long before Mr. Chrétien was jetting off to Beijing to advise well-heeled clients about doing business with China…”

What a ridiculous sentence to write. You are a neo-con. Since when to a conservative is someone’s being “well-heeled” a sin or aspersion?

I guess only when you want to write the kind of shabby propaganda this article represents. You duck into the kind of language a member of the 1960 British Labour Party might have used just to make a cheap point.

International business does tend to be done by “well-heeled” people. So far as I see the average small Canadian businessman couldn’t afford the air fare.

“You want me to tell the president of a country of 1.3 billion people you should do this and do that, but I don’t dare to say what to do to the premier of Saskatchewan?”

That is not a “laugh line” as you assert, that’s a cogently-put truth by Mr. Chretien. If you disagree, go argue the point with Danny Williams. Simply a limp, pitiful statement, Marcus Gee.

“Canadians are fighting and dying for human rights in Afghanistan.”

Now there IS a “laugh line,” Marcus Gee, a very dark and bitter one.

Actually, it is more a deliberate misrepresentation (aka: a lie) or evidence of your lack of knowledge.

Canadians are in Afghanistan for one reason only.

Mr. Chretien kept us out of the mass murder of Iraq, and we avoided being mucked up in American missile defence (aka: the weaponizing of space).

The folks in Ottawa simply declared “we owe one to the Pentagon,” and when they said that they thought they would face the kind of mild service most others in NATO face, who are all putting in time to keep the embarrassed U.S. from blowing a fuse.

They had no idea they would end up in the hell-hole they now find themselves in.

“Should we stay silent about our most basic beliefs because Beijing feels slighted?”

There is perhaps your most uninformed line of many, Marcus Gee.

Basic beliefs?

The U.S. occupies two nations, threatens a third, and has begun threatening a fourth. It has killed perhaps a million innocent people. The CIA runs an international torture gulag. We have the shame of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. We’ve had the horrors of white phosphorus used as a weapon and the ghastly use of cluster bombs which almost make land mines look humane. We have new ugly, intrusive laws within the U.S. New powers for the FBI, an organization with a dreadful human-rights record. And we have a long trail of documented lies from the White House.

But we’ve heard nothing from you, Marcus Gee, on any of that and still more. Indeed, your political hero, Mr. Harper (aka: Steve to George Bush) does every petty thing he can think of to please and flatter the most incompetent and dangerous president in American history.

You do not understand what is in front of your face. The Chinese are coming out of a hideous Secular Dark Ages, and it is clear that today they enjoy freedoms unheard of only a few decades ago. The evidence is everywhere. Watch some documentaries, read some books, talk to Chinese people, and, if you had an open mind, you would be astounded by the relative freedom. China’s advance and development on every front – economic, political, and social – is the miraculous story coming for this generation to watch.

But clearly, you do not have an open mind, Mr. Gee, you are nothing more than a dreary, full-time propagandist.
